The Saleaula lava fields (where Mt Matavanu erupted 102 years ago), left 50 square kilometres of wrinkles and is a popular visitor attraction.

The Savai'i people provide a true insight into the traditional Samoan way of life with their culture. Indulge in a traditional Sunday meal cooked on an overground volcanic rock oven called umu or have a game of kirikiti (a form of cricket). Other pastimes include learning the art of tapa cloth making and painting.
