Norfolk Island Banking - Norfolk Island Currency - Norfolk Island Tax.
There are branches of Westpac Bank and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia located in Burnt Pine on Norfolk Island. There is also a Commonwealth Bank ATM on the island which is open 24 hours a day.
The branches are open Monday to Thursday from 9.30am to 4.00pm and on Fridays until 5.00pm.
Australian currency (AUD) is used on the island. Notes are in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 dollars. Coin denominations are 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents as well as 1 and 2 dollars.
EFTPOS is available in many establishments while travellers cheques and most credit cards are also widely accepted by businesses.
As Norfolk Island is not subject to Australian taxes and duties, it has gained a reputation as being a shoppers paradise.
Visitors can make the most of this low-tax shopping which covers a range of items, including perfumes, clothing, jewellery and household goods.
Tipping is not expected on Norfolk Island, however, if someone has given excellent service, a tip is always appreciated.
