About Denarau Island
General Information About Denarau Island
Denarau Island is a small island in Fiji, and the name of the resort area on the island. It is connected by a short causeway to Viti Levu and is 20 minutes drive from Nadi International Airport. Denarau Island, is the largest integrated resort in the South Pacific. If you want to splash out and be pampered, this is where you want to be, it boasts eight large resorts, stunning beaches and an 18-hole championship golf course.
You'll find an excellent range of accommodation, with the resorts offering designer suites, stunning swimming pools and a wide range of restaurants. Whether you want to shop, have some adventure or experience some of the best dining Fiji has to offer, you'll find it all at Denarau Island.
Denarau Island was developed as a resort hub starting in the late 1960s. Since then it has gone from strength to strength following the construction of the golf course, reclamation of land and dredging and construction of the marina, most recently the Port Denarau Retail & Commercial Centre in 2007.
Denarau's resorts offer a varied menu of accommodation with hotel rooms and suites, luxury villas, and five-star accommodation available. Each resort caters for a wide range of travelers. For the business-minded, there are conference facilities and WiFi, and spas and swimming pools for those who just want to take it easy, with awesome options for the kids. The resorts' restaurants, cafes and bars offer exciting indoor and outdoor dining experiences, offering specialty cuisines, fine dining and, in some cases, the full silver service experience. With eight resorts, Denarau is sure to have the perfect location for your honeymoon, wedding, or just the ultimate luxury holiday.
Denarau's great facilities make it the natural place to host a wide range of sporting, corporate and entertainment events, with Golf Tournaments regularly occurring to take advantage of the world-class course. Denarau is also making a name for itself as a festival centre, with Port Denarau hosting the Fiji International Jazz and Blues Festival, and multiple resorts hosting the South Pacific Food and Wine Festival, where international chefs explore the food and flavors of the South Pacific.
All of the Denarau resorts offer multiple dining options, but if you want to get away and try something different, there are excellent restaurants at the marina, mostly sited right on the waterfront. There are menus to suit all tastes, with steakhouse dining alongside Indian and Asian cuisine cooked by local and imported chefs. Of course, excellent seafood is also a feature, fresh caught and cooked in a range of styles, simple or fancy. Many restaurants are family friendly with kid's menus and children's tables, and the views of the busy marina make the sunset a popular time to enjoy a glass of something by the water, and watch the sun go down.
